Meet G. Christopher Gaines, II, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA
G. Christopher Gaines, II, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC). He received the Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC). While at East Carolina University, Dr. Gaines worked primarily in the basic sciences and studied evoked potentials from the vestibular system, which are electrical signals that relay information on the general health/status of the balance apparatus. He is the recipient of both university and external grants/awards, which include grants/awards from the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (Vestibular Student Investigator Research Grant, the Student Research Forum Award, Student Summer Research Fellowship), a National Organization for Hearing Research Foundation Research Award, and doctoral student research project funding from the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at East Carolina University. His primary interests are with the evaluation and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Gaines currently holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and he is a fellow member of American Academy of Audiology (AAA). He is also a member of the American Auditory Society, the American Physiological Society, and the Association for Research in Otolaryngology. He currently practices in the Morehead City location.
