We understand choosing a hearing care provider is a big decision. Our number one priority is delivering exceptional patient care. Our staff combines many years of expertise in hearing healthcare, and is well-trained on a variety of services ranging from evaluations to treatment.

We believe great care includes establishing great relationships with our patients. Treating hearing loss is an ongoing process that requires regular follow-ups, maintenance and cleanings to keep you hearing your best. Our Providers

Allison Kern

Allison Kern, AuD

Audiologist

Allison received both her undergraduate degree and her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). While in school she spent time researching how patients with hearing loss understand speech in noise and how to implement this into hearing aid technology. She also developed a passion for mission-related audiology, spending two weeks a year in remote villages of Nicaragua distributing audiological care and teaching sign language to the remote Deaf community.

G. Christopher Gaines, II, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Audiologist

G. Christopher Gaines, II, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC). He received the Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC). While at East Carolina University, Dr. Gaines worked primarily in the basic sciences and studied evoked potentials from the vestibular system, which are electrical signals that relay information on the general health/status of the balance apparatus.

Rachael N. Piper, AuD, FAAA

Audiologist

Rachael is the audiologist at our Leland-Wilmington Office. She received her Bachelor of Arts from State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh. Rachael graduated with her Doctorate in Audiology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She completed her clinical residency in Weymouth, Massachusetts at South Shore Hearing Center.

Sara-Morgan P. Woods, AuD, CCC-A, CAS

Audiologist

Sara-Morgan received her undergraduate degree and clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC). During her studies she was a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma, a service-based sorority, and competed on the varsity women’s swim team as a student athlete. In her free time, she enjoys singing with the Greenville Choral Society, teaching swim lessons, and competing in triathlons.

Tessa Merrill, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA

Audiologist

Dr. Merrill received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland and continued at Towson to receive her Doctorate of Audiology. Prior to completing her doctorate, Dr. Merrill completed a year-long externship at ENTAA Care Audiology in Glen Burnie, Maryland where she then continued to work for 5 additional years.

Cathy Livengood

Audiology Assistant

Cathy received her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC in 2006. She was working in customer service when she realized she wanted to take her experience with people into the medical field. She obtained her medical office administration certificate from Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC in 2019, and started working at an audiology private practice.
